In short: the game has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. It does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts or any identifier of your device. To serve questions it tells our server which actors you have recently seen, and nothing that says who you are.

The questions and photos come from our server at gta.securedlander.com. To get them, the app sends:

Like every server on the internet, ours sees the IP address a request comes from, because that is where the answer has to go. We do not keep it in our request log. That log records only which page was asked for, the result and the time, and it is deleted after 14 days. When the server itself fails, its error log can contain the IP address of the request that failed. That log is also deleted after 14 days and is used only to fix the failure.
The server is a virtual server rented from OVH in Germany, inside the European Union. Nobody else receives this data, and we do not sell or share it.
Your progress (levels, lives, hints, best scores, your chosen set of actors and the actors you saw recently) and a cache of downloaded photos are stored on your phone only. They are excluded from cloud backup and removed when you uninstall the app. You can also delete them at any time by clearing the app's storage in your phone's settings.
The hints are part of the game. They cannot be bought, and the app contains no payments of any kind.
The photos are freely licensed pictures from Wikimedia Commons, copied to our own server. The "Photo credits" button opens our credits page in your browser; the browser's own privacy terms apply there.
The app asks Android only for internet access and to check whether a network connection is available. It has no access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts or files.
The game is meant for a general audience. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Under the European General Data Protection Regulation you may ask what we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there is usually nothing to hand over, but you are always welcome to ask at play@stellingwerff.com. You may also complain to a data protection authority; in the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
If a future version of the app changes what it does with data — for example by showing advertisements — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
